The tradition of doopsuikers (baptism sugar) began in Belgium in the 17th century when sugar was considered a luxury and reserved for special occasions such as births and weddings. The doopsuikers are displayed on shelves or stands in the new baby's home or hospital room and offered to special family and friends when visiting the new baby.

They are said to bring good luck to everyone who receives one and become a cherished keepsake to remember this special event. The tradition eventually spread to other surrounding European countries, and Sweetheart's is now bringing this cherished tradition to the US. We offer our doopsuikers in small containers with pink/white or blue/white, and we have the option to customize with a variety of colors for you to choose from. We also offer custom printing of baby's name/birthdate on each co.
